[4 Fixes To Resolve] Nintendo Switch Blue Screen Error

I’ve heard how annoying the Nintendo Switch’s Blue Screen of Death (BSoD) is. So I did some research, and here are four tried and true methods for resolving BSoD on Switch:

Cause Of This Error

There are numerous causes of BSOD. Some are simple to solve, while others are more difficult.

1. Absence Of Corner Bond

According to Repair Haijin, the main cause of so many BSoDs is a lack of a corner bond. In addition, the lack of a corner bond has made the Nintendo Switch quite fragile.

In simpler terms, if you drop your Nintendo Switch, the CPU may easily become detached due to the lack of a corner bond, resulting in a Blue Screen of Death.

2. Using A Third Party Dock

Although this is extremely rare, it has happened to a few people, so it is worth mentioning.

The Nintendo Switch works well with the majority of docks, but there have been reports of the Nintendo Switch becoming stuck on the Blue Screen of Death due to a third-party dock.

3. Unnecessary Files

This is a fairly common one. I’m sure some of you have heard that hard resetting the Nintendo Switch solves the Blue Screen of Death.

In these cases, the problem is caused by unnecessary files or a lack of files. And this is why the vast majority of BSoD exist.

How To Fix The Blue Screen

Now that we’ve examined the majority of the causes, it’s time to consider how to resolve these issues:

Fix 1: Restarting

  • If your Switch is experiencing a minor issue, restarting the console will resolve it. This has helped more people than you might think.
  • If the Nintendo switch is stuck on Blue, you must force it to shut down by holding down the “Power Button” for 12 seconds.
  • Once it has been shut down, press the power button again to restart it.

Fix 2: Hard Reset

  • If your Nintendo Switch is stuck on the Blue Screen, we have forced it to shut down by holding down the “Power Button” for 12 seconds.
  • Now, hold down the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons simultaneously, then press the power button to turn it on.
  • Continue to hold the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons to boot into recovery mode.

Recovery mode
  • “Factory Setting Without Deleting Save Data” should be selected.
  • Keep in mind that this will take some time.
  • Again, except for Sava data, Videos, Screenshots, and your information, this will delete all data.

If you are unable to boot into recovery mode, proceed to method 4 immediately:

Fix 3: Drain The Battery

  • If you are unable to boot your Nintendo Switch into recovery mode, the only option is to leave the console on the blue screen and allow the battery to drain.
  • Connect the charger and restart the console after the battery has been completely depleted.

Fix 4: Delete Everything

This method is similar to the final weapon in your arsenal. I would only use it when nothing else works.

Unfortunately, I was unable to find a way to create a backup when the switch is stuck in the Blue screen mode.

The steps are the same as in Method 2, but if you want to be sure, try these:

  • If the Nintendo Switch is stuck on the Blue Screen, the only way to turn it off is to press and hold the “Power Button” for 12 seconds.
  • Now, hold down both the volume up (+) and volume down (-) buttons before pressing the power button to turn it on. Once the power is “ON,” release the power button.
  • Continue to hold the Volume Up (+) and Volume Down (-) buttons to boot into recovery mode.
  • Select “Restore Factory Settings.”
  • Again, this will delete everything in your console, so only use it if nothing else works.

Conclusion

Either of these four methods ought to work for you. If none of these methods work, it means you have a much more serious problem and must send your switch to be repaired.
